Total Focus Workshop

Author: Shane Horsburgh

The following is an outline of the Total Focus Workshop.

CHAPTER ONE:  SELF ANALYSIS

• We look at the concept of change and whether people have a negative or positive response to it.
• The power of commitment and why it is imperative to changing.
• We look at who we are in order to fully understand ourselves.  Our strengths and weaknesses, our capabilities and possibilities. We identify that we are really 3 people; the person that others see, the person that you see and the real you. Self Analysis is about moving toward self actualization by having a better understanding of ourselves.
• We look at pitfalls in life and how to avoid them and to train your mind to recognise when one is on the horizon.
• We look at potential and how it can be tapped.
• A concept called Acceptance of Reality.  This concept is essentially an acceptance of the things that happen around us which cause stress over which we have no control. It is the challenge to recognise them and to change the mindset.
• We look at the ABC of stress model and I will incorporate some studies on what physiological changes occur to us when we become stressed.  These are studies that I have conducted myself over many years of teaching and using the subconscious mind to respond to emergency situations.

CHAPTER TWO: ACTION PLANNING

• The three essential qualities of a goals plan. Definition, Commitment and Organisation.
• Setting your goals program.
• We look at whether a person has goals or just dreams and investigate how you can separate them with 6 questions;
1. Is it really my goal?
2. Is it morally right and fair for everyone?
3. Is it challenging enough to take me out of my comfort zone?
4. Does it comply with my life’s theme?
5. Is it do-able, see-able and achieveable?
6. Can I commit to it now?
• Order/Creativity Paradox!  We look at the importance of setting goals and definite deadlines on them.

CHAPTER THREE:  MIND MASTERY

• We look at how much of the human brain we use and the dangers of conformity.
• We look at ways to get people to think about their thinking…..in a positive way!!
• How to filter out the negative thoughts from the 60,000 thoughts we have each day.
• The power of words and how our language can have a positive or negative effect on our lives.
• Course participants are encouraged to undertake a 7 day ‘mental diet’.
• We look at the 3 laws of the mind;
1. The Law of Emotion
2. The Law of Certitude
3. The Law of Thought
• The concept of Preferred Reality Conditioning.  This is where the practical, simple approach to changing your mindset is explained.
• The power of visualization, affirmation and reinforcement of this process through the Alpha mind.

CHAPTER FOUR: EMOTIONAL MANAGEMENT

• The challenge of change and why we resist.
• How to avoid the failure cycle.  As we discussed, this entails Excitement, Avoidance Behaviour, Excuses and Blame.
• An overview of the tools that we require to reach our Preferred Reality

The overarching theme of the workshop is to get people thinking about becoming more ‘other people centred’ in order to improve their individual work/life balance.  There are a number of group exercises/discussions throughout the w/s which help to cement the topics discussed.  As discussed there is also scope for free follow up sessions to your staff to totally imbue the concepts into their minds to achieve better productivity. The workshop has about 7-8 hours of content (depending on the length of discussion).

The free intro talk is essentially a mini presentation for your staff to beat procrastination and begin the process of change in order to become more ‘self actualised’.
